Walk – hieizan [Kyoto, Japan]

Mt. Hiei straddles the prefectural border between Kyoto and Shiga.
The entire mountain is a temple area, and the three areas of “Toudo,” “Saito,” and “Yokawa” are collectively called Hieizan Enryakuji Temple.

Saicho founded Enryaku-ji Temple on Mt. Hiei and Kukai founded Kongobuji Temple on Mt. Koya.
While Kukai is an unconventional genius,
Saicho operated Hieizan Enryakuji Temple with academic organizational power like a university studying Buddhism, and produced the founders of various denominations.
