Lake Shikotsu [Hokkaido, Japan]

Hokkaido

Lake Shikotsu is a caldera lake with a circumference of about 40km, surrounded by steep mountains such as Eniwa and Tarumae.
The maximum depth is about 360m, which is the second deepest in Japan, so water convection is likely to occur, so it is the northernmost non-freezing lake in Japan where the lake water hardly freezes even in the middle of winter.
