Most days in Okinawa in winter seem to be cloudy, but I went to the beach because I could see the clear sky.
Sesoko Island, a remote island in the west of the Motobu Peninsula in Okinawa. You can drive from the main island of Okinawa across the Sesoko Bridge.
Sesoko Beach is a natural beach about 800 meters long that stretches to the northwest of the island.
It’s dirty now due to the drifting of pumice stones, but it’s still a beautiful beach.
- Where did the pumice come from?
A large-scale eruption occurred at the submarine volcano “Fukutoku Okanoba” near the Ogasawara Islands.
The pumice stones that erupted from the eruption flowed to the main island of Okinawa, about 1,450 kilometers away, over a period of about two months.
